When should I seek counselling?

There is no wrong time to begin therapy. Many people reach out when they are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about how to move forward. Common concerns include anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship challenges, or major life transitions.

For parents and caregivers, therapy can also be a space to explore how to best support a neurodiverse child, navigate complex emotions, and develop helpful strategies. Whether you are seeking clarity, coping tools, or simply a space to reflect, counselling can offer meaningful support and guidance.

Do I require a referral to see you?

No referral is required. You are welcome to reach out and book directly with us at any time.

If you are accessing services through a funding source such as FSCD, there may be specific requirements or documentation needed. We are happy to walk you through that process and answer any questions about eligibility or next steps.

What can I expect in my first session?

Your first session is typically an opportunity to address the intake form completed prior to coming to your first appointment.  We may complete informal assessments around risk and gather more information. You’ll discuss your goals for therapy, relevant personal history, and current challenges. It’s also a chance for you and your therapist to determine if you’re a good fit for each other.

How long is each session and how many sessions will I need?

Most sessions are 50 minutes, though some practitioners may offer longer sessions by request. The amount of sessions you need will depend on what you are wanting to work on and what your therapist recommends. Some short-term therapy can be completed in 10-12 sessions.

How do I book an appointment?

Use our 'book now' button to open up our Jane portal. From there, you can check out therapist schedules and find a time that works best for you.

How much will therapy cost?

Session rates vary by clinician and service type. Rates typically range from $150 to $180 per session. Some services may be covered through FSCD, insurance plans, or sliding-scale options.

What forms of payment and insurance do you accept?

Clients are responsible for checking their unique insurance plan for coverage of Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC), CCC’s are an accepted practitioner for most insurance companies, however coverage is often plan-dependent. We provide receipts with the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance provider. We also have the ability to bill some insurance companies though Jane.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. When an appointment is booked, that time is set aside exclusively for you. It can be difficult to fill a session spot on short notice, which is why missed appointments or late cancellations may be subject to the full session fee.

We appreciate your understanding and effort in respecting this time, as it supports both your care and the availability of services for others.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, we offer secure online therapy sessions through a privacy-compliant video platform called Jane.
We are in the process of securing a physical office space, in the future you can choose in-person, virtual, or a combination of both.

How do I know which clinician is the right fit?

You can read our clinician profiles to learn more about their specialties, approach, and experience. You can also book a free 15-minute consultation in order to meet the clinician you are interested in. If you're unsure, contact us and we can help match you with the therapist best suited to your needs.
